Description
Wor-Wic Community College is accepting applications for a part-time public safety officer to patrol the college campus by vehicle and on foot, and complete security checks on all campus buildings.This position is scheduled to work a variable schedule (approximately 25 hours per week) and includes afternoon/evening and intermittent weekend hours.
Requirements include a high school diploma or the equivalent; five years of experience in law enforcement or security; completion of a pre-employment drug test with satisfactory results; completion of a pre-employment medical examination that demonstrates the incumbent has the required health and physical strength to respond to emergency situations; a clear record upon completion of criminal and child protective services background checks; and a valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record.

To remain in the position, the successful applicant must pass and become certified in defensive weapons tactics, handcuffs, capsicum spray and baton usage during the introductory period through Wor-Wic offered training; complete training and steps required to obtain and/or maintain a security guard card; and obtain and maintain AED/CPR and first aid certifications.
This position is considered an "essential employee" and as such, may be required to report during non-scheduled days, evenings, weekends and/or holidays to assist with snow removal and other work situations. This position is eligible for some benefits. The starting pay will likely range from $22.92 to 28.10 per hour based on qualifications and experience.
